68. Mr. Willis

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he intends to introduce legislation fixing a retiral age for sheriffs-substitute.

Mr. Maclay

The Sheriffs-Substitute Association has made proposals for revision of the sheriffs' entitlement to pension, including the introduction of a retiring age. I am considering these proposals.

Sir J. Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he proposes to bring up to date the pensions scheme for sheriffs-substitute in Scotland, as requested by their association in April, 1959.

Mr. Maclay

I have not yet completed my consideration of the Association's proposals.
