asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a further statement on the provision of a new hospital in central West Fife.

I understand that the board of management is sending to the regional board recommendations for additional general hospital provision in the area. As regards maternity beds, I explained the position in reply to the hon. Member on 17th November last, since when the regional board has had meetings with local interested parties.
