HC Deb 02 February 1960 vol 616 c117W
90. Sir D. Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much has been offered in marginal agriculture production grants to farmers in Caithness for 1959–60; how this compares with the total sums paid in the previous two years; and how many applications for grant have been rejected for land which is indisputably marginal.

Mr. Maclay

Grants totalling £60,000 are to be offered in Caithness for the 1960 cropping season compared with £89,000 for 1958 and £69,500 for 1959. No indisputably marginal farms have been refused grant.
