HC Deb 02 February 1960 vol 616 cc102-3W
42. Mr. Reynolds

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs why he is withholding district valuers' reports on land which local authorities are endeavouring to purchase from new town development corporations.

Mr. H. Brooke

As a result of the passing of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1959, the arrangements which have hitherto governed land transactions between development corporations and local authorities are in process of revision. I am anxious that no sales should be held up in the meantime, and if the hon. Member has any difficult case in mind I shall be pleased to look into it.

43. Mr. Reynolds

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he will grant loan sanction to local authorities for development on land which they have agreed to purchase from new town development corporations prior to the completion of an actual contract of purchase.

Mr. H. Brooke

So far as I am aware, this question has arisen in only one new town. I issued loan sanctions as soon as letters had been exchanged embodying agreement to purchase, and I do not know of any current difficulties.
