§ 68. Sir E. Erringtonasked the Minister of Labour how many retired regular officers aged 50 to 60 at the date of registration with his Department since June, 1957, have failed to obtain employment within a reasonable period; and what percentage this is of the total number of retired regular officers within that age group.
§ Mr. P. ThomasI regret that this information is not available. The number of retired regular officers from all three Services aged 46 or over who have been registered as unemployed for more than six months was 258 on 30th September, 1960. This is the lowest figure since 31st December, 1958, when statistics of unemployed officers by age groups began to be kept and should be viewed against the background of 15,238 regular officers of all ages Who retired from the three Services between 1st January, 1958, and 30th September, 1960. On this latter date, 719 were registered as unemployed.
