HC Deb 21 December 1960 vol 632 cc168-9W
Mr. Hirst

asked the Lord Privy Seal whether he is aware that some insurance companies and certain other British claimants, Whose property has been liquidated or Egyptianised, are unable to establish their claims against the Egyptian Compensation Fund in the United Kingdom; and what action he proposes to take to assist these claimants.

Mr. Heath

An Order in Council was made by Her Majesty today amending the Foreign Compensation (Egypt) (Determination and Registration of Claims) Order, 1959 (S.I. 1959, No. 625) so as to facilitate the establishment of such claims where formal evidence of sale of the property cannot be obtained. The Amending Order will be laid before the House on 30th December and will come into operation on 2nd January.
