§ Mr. G. M. Thomsonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies when he expects to complete registration of voters in Nyasaland; what is his estimate of the number of voters qualified under the franchises regulations; and when the elections will take place.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodThis is a considerable task in a country where there is no previous experience, but the registration of the approximately 100,000 voters whom I estimate will be qualified should be completed by early March. I hope that this will make it possible for elections to be held about the end of May. The fulfilment of this time-table depends upon the co-operation of all concerned.
