Mr. Snowasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been drawn to the urgent need of the British School of Archaeology at Athens to secure help for the construction of a stratigraphical museum at Knossos, in view of the particular responsibilities of the school in the matter of the preservation and availability of the collection of pottery originating from the excavations by the late Sir Arthur Evans; and whether he will increase the grant to the British Academy to achieve this end.
§ Sir E. BoyleRepresentations on this subject have recently been received in the Treasury. I will consider them in conjunction with the British Academy who have undertaken the responsibility for distributing the total Government subvention covering such purposes.
