HC Deb 14 December 1960 vol 632 cc47-8W
76. Mr. Langford-Holt

asked the Minister of Transport why two international "No Entry" signs were placed, one on the shoulder and one on the cen- tral reservation, on the east-bound carriageway in advance of the diversion on to the west-bound carriageway at Queen Hill Bridge on the Ross Spur Motorway on the day it was opened to traffic; whether these signs have now been removed; and whether he will ensure that all temporary signs used in connection with motorways are of the correct type, are properly sited, and are removed immediately they have fulfilled their purpose.

Mr. Marples

Owing to a misunderstanding these "No Entry" signs were incorrectly sited on the first day. They have since been put in the right place. There are already standing instructions that should ensure the use of only the correct type of temporary signs on motorways, their proper siting and their early removal when they are no longer necessary.
