HC Deb 14 December 1960 vol 632 cc45-6W
62. Mr. Gough

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that road signs in the Greater London area are virtually invisible after dark; and whether he will make arrangements for them to be suitably lighted.

Mr. Marples

I am aware that some signs are not satisfactorily lit, but the standard is improving. I encourage highway authorities to illuminate their signs, and pay grant on the cost for classified roads.
