HC Deb 12 December 1960 vol 632 c1W
62. Mr. Tilney

asked the Lord Privy Seal what steps the United Nations have taken to ensure that voters in the forthcoming plebiscite in the South Cameroons understand the implications of their vote and what action those who want independence from either Nigeria or the Kamerun Republic should take.

Mr. Godber

At its meeting last summer, the United Nations Trusteeship Council asked the United Kingdom to ensure that the implications of the choices of the plebiscite were clarified before the vote. We have done our best to achieve this.

Separate independence is not one of the choices in the plebiscite.
