HC Deb 12 December 1960 vol 632 c20W
Mr. Mason

asked the Minister of Health if he is satisfied that the Sheffield Regional Hospital Board is having sufficient moneys allocated to it for the purpose of housing and caring for mental defectives in its region; and if he will make a statement.

Miss Pitt

The Sheffield Regional Hospital Board receives its share of the capital available for hospital building generally. As regards hospitals for the mentally subnormal, they are now inviting tenders for a scheme to provide an additional 156 beds at Balderton Hospital, Newark, and will shortly be doing so for a scheme to provide 140 beds at Aston Hall Hospital, near Derby. The regional hospital board also has proposals for major extensions to hospitals at Sheffield and Chesterfield and smaller extensions elsewhere.
