HC Deb 12 December 1960 vol 632 c8W
85. Sir A. Hurd

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a further statement on the foot-and-mouth disease position; and when he hopes to be able to relax the restrictions in livestock movements imposed over wide areas in recent weeks.

Mr. Soames

From midnight, 1st December, to midnight yesterday there have been nineteen outbreaks in the present series out of a total of 227. The number of outbreaks notified has steadily decreased. All controlled area restrictions in England were removed on 11th December. Infected area restrictions remain but are being reduced as quickly as possible.
