86. Mr. Hale

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what is the amount in value of escheats to the Crown within the Duchy for want of legal heirs or successors during the twelve months computed to the most recent convenient date; and what amount has been granted to claimants ex gratia.

Dr. Hill

The amount received by Her Majesty in right of the Duchy of Lancaster in the twelve months to 29th September, 1960, from the estates of persons dying in Lancashire intestate and without known kin was £36,589. Ex gratia payments to claimants amounted to £3,875.
