HC Deb 12 December 1960 vol 632 c15W
Mr. Chetwynd

asked the Minister of Aviation what progress is being made in the provision of recording apparatus for use in civil and military planes.

Mr. Rippon

A number of recording devices are available and are already employed on appropriate occasions in both civil and military aircraft, particularly during flight testing.

In addition, the Ministry of Aviation proposes shortly to issue tenders for the development of equipment to record and preserve essential data in the event of an aircraft accident. The specification has been drawn up in consultation with the Air Registration Board and civil users and should be suitable for both civil and military aircraft.
