HL Deb 06 December 1960 vol 227 c58WA
LORD MANCROFT

asked Her Majesty's Government whether the Local Authorities have sufficient powers to control the unsightly rash of sponsored fascia boards which are now appearing on confectioners' and tobacconists' shops up and down the country, and, if not, whether they will consider strengthening those powers before the disease gets out of control.

THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES AND FOOD (EARL WALDEGRAVE)

My right honourable friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government is well aware that this rash is causing widespread irritation. He is examining urgently whether more effective remedies need to be prescribed than those at present available.

House adjourned at twenty-three minutes past five o'clock.
