§ 79. Commander Keransasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many people are employed by the Egg Marketing Board; and what was the cost to the country of running the Egg Marketing Board during the years 1958 to 1960.
§ Mr. SoamesThe number of staff employed is a domestic matter for the British Egg Marketing Board and I regret I cannot undertake to obtain the information requested by my hon. and gallant Friend.
As regards the second part of the Question, the cost of running the Egg Marketing Board is met by the producers themselves. But when the Board began operations in 1957 the guaranteed price for eggs was raised to take account of the marketing and administrative expenses, which had previously been borne directly by the Government.
