Older Workers (Booklet)

asked the Minister of Labour whether, in order to provide continuity for the valuable reports issued by the former National Advisory Committee on the Employment of Older Men and Women, he will consult the other Government Departments concerned with regard to the publication of a Report by the Inter-departmental Committee on the Employment of Older Workers.

The task of the Interdepartmental Committee is to encourage research into the employment problems of older workers and to publicise the results. Reports on the lines of those made by the National Advisory Committee would not be appropriate, but at the request of the Ministry of Labour, a booklet reviewing recent research has been prepared by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.

This booklet, which was approved by the Committee, has just been published under the title The Older Worker and His Job and I am sending my hon. Friend a copy.
