HC Deb 14 April 1960 vol 621 c151W
Mr. Brockway

asked the Minister of State for Commonwealth Relations the length of tarred roads in Bechuanaland, Basutoland and Swaziland, respectively.

Mr. Alport

In Basutoland there are about 3½ miles of tarred roads.

In the Bechuanaland Protectorate there are five miles of tarred roads.

In Swaziland there are 1¼ miles of tarred roads—public—in Mbabane, and about 2 miles—private—in the township at Havelock Mine.

This of course bears no relation to the length of the all weather roads in the three Territories.
