HC Deb 14 April 1960 vol 621 cc174-5W
Captain Kerby

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether in view of the revival of Mau Mau terror, the recrudescence of oath taking ceremonies, the rise in murders of both Europeans and loyal Kikuyu, and the ever increasing unrest and rapidly deteriorating security position throughout Kenya, he will order the re-introduction forthwith of the State of Emergency in the Colony, which was ended so as to coincide with his opening of the London Kenya Conference in January.

Mr. Iain Macleod

I have nothing to add to the reply given by my hon. Friend the Minister of State for Commonwealth Relations to my hon. Friend the Member for Chigwell (Mr. Biggs-Davison) on 5th April.
