HC Deb 14 April 1960 vol 621 cc158-9W
59. Sir Richard Glyn

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many tons of British eggs were marketed, other than shell eggs, in the 12-month period up to the latest convenient date; and how many tons of shell eggs were imported into Great Britain during the same period.

Mr. Godber

I am informed by the British Egg Marketing Board that it marketed some 17,000 tons of frozen egg in 1959. This is equivalent to about 19,000 tons of shell eggs. In addition, an unknown but smaller quantity of home-produced frozen egg was marketed on private account. Shell eggs imported into the United Kingdom in 1959 amounted to 8,250 tons.
