HC Deb 14 April 1960 vol 621 cc179-80W
Mr. Clark Hutchison

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether any agreement has yet been reached with other Governments about British book exports.

Dr. Hill

An Agreement has been reached with the Yugoslav Government providing for the import of British books into Yugoslavia. It entered into force on the 12th April, 1960.

Under this Agreement, Her Majesty's Government will meet the sterling cost of the books supplied, and will use the dinars paid by Yugoslav booksellers for the expenses of Her Majesty's Embassy and Consulates in Yugoslavia. In addition to books the Agreement covers newspapers, periodicals, audio-visual aids for teaching purposes, certain types of films and gramophone records and rights in relation to such material.

The Exchange of Notes constituting this Agreement will be published as a White Paper and laid before Parliament.
