asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what percentage of uninspected meat from slaughterhouses in England and Wales is sold for human consumption.

No precise figures are available, but it is estimated that over 90 per cent. of meat is inspected before leaving the slaughterhouse.
