§ 85. Mr. Oramasked the Minister of Labour when he expects to lay before the House the safety regulations for constructional and civil engineering.
§ Mr. P. ThomasTwo sets of preliminary draft regulations have already been issued to interested organisations for comment and the third and final set is in course of preparation. These drafts have to be discussed with many of the organisations concerned and thereafter to be published as statutory drafts, following which, after we have considered any objections, my right hon. Friend will be able to make the regulations.
It is impossible to forecast how long this will take, but my right hon. Friend intends to proceed as quickly as possible and hopes to lay the first regulations before the House before the end of the year.
§ 86. Mr. Oramasked the Minister of Labour if the proposed new safety regulations for constructional and civil engineering will include separate and special regulations for steel erectors.
§ Mr. P. ThomasThe safety regulations my right hon. Friend is proposing to make will apply to all workers in constructional and civil engineering. Many of the requirements will have a direct bearing on the safety of steel erectors.
