HC Deb 04 April 1960 vol 621 c9W
78. Commander Pursey

asked the Minister of Health at what stage in the procedure for sight-tests in hospitals, and by whom, an out-patient is informed that he has the option of taking his prescription to any optician; and what action he will take to ensure that all eye hospitals, and hospitals with eye departments, enable the patient to exercise his option.

Miss Pitt

The procedure varies from hospital to hospital, but usually takes the form of written notices. Information may also be given orally by the ophthalmologist, ophthalmic optician or clerk. My right hon. and learned Friend is reminding hospital authorities of the need to ensure that patients are made aware of the option.
