HC Deb 04 April 1960 vol 621 c21W
Captain Kerby

asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty whether, in view of the scrapping in the near future of the destroyer H.M.S. "Hogue", as a result of damage sustained in collision with I.N.S. "Mysore" last year, he will state the cause of the collision; and what action has been taken against those responsible.

Mr. C. Ian Orr-Ewing

The collision was caused by errors of navigation on the part of the commanding officer and the officer of the watch of H.M.S. "Hogue", when manoeuvring to pass astern of I.N.S. "Mysore" during an exercise at night. The officers concerned were tried by court-martial and found guilty.
