HC Deb 26 November 1959 vol 614 c69W
Dr. A. Thompson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will consider introducing legislation to bring personal credit schemes for the purchase of household goods within the terms of the Money-enders Acts, 1900 and 1927, thereby giving protection to the public as regards advertisement and interest rates.

Mr. Maclay

I understand that criminal proceedings are pending which may raise the question whether a personal credit scheme falls within the Moneylenders Acts. It seems desirable first to have the law established in this way.
