asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps are now being taken to encourage car manufacturers to establish an industry in Scotland; and if he will make a statement.

I shall do all I can to induce manufacturers in the motor vehicle and component industries to establish new capacity in the unemployment areas in Scotland and elsewhere.
