HC Deb 26 November 1959 vol 614 cc65-6W
102. Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Minister of Education, as representing the Minister for Science, what work has been carried out, or is being carried out, by the Building Research Station, with a view to reducing the noise made by pneumatic drills and pile drivers; and, whether in view of the large amount of structural building work now proceeding in London and other great cities, he will request the Building Research Station to accelerate its researches into this matter, with a view to finding some practical method of reducing this noise nuisance at an early date.

Sir D. Eccles

None, but individual problems of industrial noise are the subject of research at the National Physical Laboratory. As regards the second part of the Question, the Government are considering what further measures can be taken to deal with the problem of noise.
