HC Deb 25 November 1959 vol 614 c41W
57. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Minister of Transport if he will make a statement on the amount of loss of life and damage to British shipping done by the gales which occurred on or about 12th-14th November.

Mr. Marples

I have received reports of two strandings, one of which was serious; one foundering; four cases of heavy weather damage; and three minor casualties. None of these resulted in loss of life. It is reported that unfortunately two fishermen were washed overboard and drowned; one off Scotland and one off Cornwall.
