HC Deb 19 November 1959 vol 613 c155W
Mr. John Hall

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been called to the sale of programmes purporting to be official to people attending the service at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday; what official programmes were on sale to the public on this occasion; and what action is taken by the Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis to regulate the sale of programmes on such occasions.

Mr. R. A. Butler

The only official programmes provided for those attending the service at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday are the leaflets distributed free by Boy Scouts. Under Regulations made by the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis all street trading is prohibited in the vicinity of the Cenotaph on the occasion of the service, and I understand that the police did not observe any breach of this prohibiton. One incident was subsequently reported to the police and inquires are proceeding.
