§ 54. Mr. Shinwellasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he is aware that rents in the new town of Peterlee are higher for similar accommodation than those in adjoining areas controlled by the Easington Rural District Council; and whether he will cause rents in Peterlee to be reduced to the level in the Easington area.
§ Mr. H. BrookeI am aware that rents for houses owned by the Peterlee Development Corporation are in general 101W higher than those for houses owned by the Easington Rural District Council. I do not regard this as a reason for directing the Corporation to reduce its rents.
