HC Deb 17 November 1959 vol 613 cc105-6W
100. Mr. Foot

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he or the Governor of Nyasaland will consult with the leaders of the Malawi Congress Party regarding the choice of Africans from Nyasaland to be members of the Monckton Commission.

102. Mrs. Castle

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what consultations have taken place, or are in contemplation, between the Governor of Nyasaland and African political leaders regarding the appointment of African members of the Monckton Commission.

Mr. Iain Macleod

The Governor's recommendations have already been made. He naturally took account of African and other opinion before doing so.
