67. Mr. Brockway

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what changes are proposed in the constitution of Tanganyika prior to another election in that territory.

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what proposals he has for a further constitutional advance in Tanganyika.

77. Mr. Callaghan

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a statement as early as possible about the constitutional changes that will take place in Tanganyika in 1960.

I am at present discussing these matters with the Governor, Sir Richard Turnbull, and the hon. Members will be aware that I hope to visit Tanganyika myself next month. In the meantime I have no statement to make.
