HC Deb 17 November 1959 vol 613 c114W
105. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Works whether he will arrange for the exhibits now displayed in the Whitehall Banqueting Hall to be transferred to the new National Army Museum at Sandhurst when opened so as to free the Banqueting Hall for more suitable purposes.

Lord John Hope

The use of the Banqueting House was granted to the Royal United Services institution by Queen Victoria, and the exhibits are its property. Apart from other considerations, as the exhibits cover all the Services, they could not appropriately be transferreden bloc to the National Army Museum.
