§ 6. Mr. Stonehouseasked the Minister of State for Commonwealth Relations what facilities will be made available for members of the proscribed Southern Rhodesian African National Congress, who are now in detention without trial, to present memoranda to, and appear before, the Advisory Commission pre paratory to the conference on the future of the federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland.
§ Mr. AlportThe Advisory Commission is not concerned with the internal affairs of Southern Rhodesia, but only with the Federal Constitution. Should the Commission consider it desirable strictly within the context of its terms of reference to receive evidence from detainees held under Southern Rhodesia law, the Southern Rhodesia Government would, I understand, be willing to make the necessary facilities available.
