Mr. Swingler

asked the Minister of Education if he will state, for the latest date for which figures are available, the numbers of primary and secondary classes of over 40, and over 50, pupils, respectively; and how these figures compare with those for 1958 and 1957.

The numbers for maintained and assisted schools are set out in the following table. The figures for classes with over 40 pupils include those with over 50.
