HC Deb 05 November 1959 vol 612 c67W
51. Mr. Swingler

asked the Prime Minister if, in view of the importance to all mankind of a Summit Conference leading to a peace agreement between the great Powers, he will propose to other heads of Governments that this should take precedence over all internal considerations and be called at the earliest possible date.

The Prime Minister

I would refer the hon. Member to the statements made in the House on 27th and 29th October by myself and my right hon. and learned Friend the Foreign Secretary; and also to the announcement made on 1st November that a meeting of Western heads of Government will be held in Paris on 19th December to prepare for a meeting with Mr. Khrushchev.
