§ 4. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state his plans for improving the pay and conditions of service in the Metropolitan Police Force, with a view to making them more attractive and increasing the size of the police force.
§ Mr. RentonThe pay, and in part the conditions of service, of the police are primarily a matter for the Police Council for Great Britain, which is a joint negotiating body representative of the police authorities and of all ranks of the police service.
