HC Deb 02 November 1959 vol 612 c24W
Mr. W. Yates

asked the Secretary of State for Air, in view of the restricted runway at the Royal Air Force Airfield, High Ercall, Wellington, Shropshire, to what extent he needs this airfield for national defence, in view of the fact that it could be producing food.

Mr. Ward

High Ercall is used extensively for flying training, for which its main runway is quite adequate. It also has valuable permanent buildings occupied by a maintenance unit.
