§ 84. Mr. Gibsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will give an assurance that people in the metropolitan area who are receiving threatening letters, a copy of which he has received, from an organisation calling itself the Ku Klux Klan of Britain, will receive the fullest police protection; and what steps he is taking to ensure that this organisation does not offend against the freedom of individuals by threats of violence which might lead to a breach of the peace.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerI am informed by the Commissioner of Police that letters purporting to come from the Ku Klux Klan are sent by one or two individuals, whose activities are being carefully watched. If at any time there appears any likelihood of a breach of the peace appropriate action will be taken at once. The police will afford any necessary protection to the recipients of such letters.
