HC Deb 14 May 1959 vol 605 c167W
67. Sir L. Plummer

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has for altering the present regulations which prohibit lay magistrates in London from charging expenses incurred within a three-mile limit of their homes; arid what revision he proposes to make in their present subsistence allowances.

Mr. R. N. Butler

I am always prepared to consider any reasoned proposals for changes in the allowances paid to Justices of the Peace. To do what the hon. Member suggests would, however, involve legislation, and on this I can give no undertaking.
