asked the Postmaster-General how many outstanding applications there were for telephones in the West Riding of Yorkshire at the last convenient date; and how many there were on the corresponding date in 1955.

At 31st March, 1,964 applications were outstanding and in addition 3,937 were under inquiry or in course of being met. The figures four years ago were 11,933 and 6,478 respectively.

During the past twelve months over 18,000 telephones have been installed.
