HC Deb 13 May 1959 vol 605 c139W
Mr. Hunter

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what report was made to him about the emergency landing of the Boeing 707 at London Airport on Friday, 8th May, at approximately 9 p.m.; and, in view of the low level approach of this aircraft, and the alarm it caused in the neighbourhood, if he will make a statement.

Mr. Watkinson

I received no report because this incident was of minor importance. The aircraft had suffered an hydraulic failure but use of its emergency system enabled it to make a normal approach and landing. I have no evidence that an abnormally low approach was made or that it caused any widespread alarm.
