§ 68. Mr. Warbeyasked the Minister of Labour whether he will extend deferment for the purpose of taking the Higher National Certificate to include part-time as well as full-time students.
Mr. lain MacleodDeferment is already allowed to enable student apprentices to obtain the higher national certificate by part-time study combined with 147W practical training, provided that they maintain satisfactory progress and that they do not pass out of liability for call-up. Craft apprentices may also be allowed up to two years' deferment beyond the end of their apprenticeship to take the higher national certificate examination provided that they have obtained the ordinary national certificate within the period of their apprenticeship.
