HC Deb 12 May 1959 vol 605 c122W
31. Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many schools in Scotland provide full secondary courses of education for deaf children.

Mr. N. Macpherson

Nine Scottish schools attended by deaf children up to age 16 provide courses on junior secondary lines. As the number of deaf children able to benefit from senior secondary education is not sufficient to justify the establishment of a suitable school in Scotland, such children are provided for at two schools in England approved for the purpose.
