§ Mr. McLeavyasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will now state what grants will be available to local government authorities for road work during the next five years; and whether he will give, respectively, for each category, the amount of grant for each year.
§ Mr. WatkinsonAs my hon. Friend the Joint Parliamentary Secretary said in an answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Twickenham (Mr. Gresham Cooke) on 18th December, we have invited highway authorities to prepare a number of road improvement schemes in the hope that we may be able to authorise them within the next three or four years, but in the interests of keeping the road programe flexible I do not intend to announce future plans in detail.
