HC Deb 05 May 1959 vol 605 c26W
74. Mr. Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer by how much he estimates that the standard rate of Income Tax would have to be increased to ensure an additional annual revenue of £63 million, £76 million, and £127 million, respectively.

Mr. Amory

Assuming that the reduced rates were increased proportionately in each case the standard rate would have to be increased by about 24¾d., 3¼d. and 5½.d., respectively.
