Mr. Haleasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the total amount of assistance, stated in terms of sterling, to be paid by Her Majesty's Government in the current year to the assistance of refugees; and what additional grant is to be made in recognition of the fact that 1959 is refugee year.
§ Mr. R. AllanThe provision for refugee relief made in the Civil Estimates for 1959–60 amounts to £2,042,572.
In addition, as announced in this House on the 19th November, 1958, Her Majesty's Government have pledged a contribution of £100,000 to the United Kingdom Committee for the World Refugee Year, of which £50,000 will be paid in this financial year.
