HC Deb 04 May 1959 vol 605 cc1-2W
4. Mr. Hale

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the difficulty of admitting grave cases into the Oldham Geriatric Hospital owing to the shortage of accommodation; and whether he is now prepared to authorize the provision of additional accommodation.

Mr. R. Thompson

I know that thirty-eight beds have been closed during the past year owing to shortage of nursing staff, not lack of accommodation; but the regional hospital board hopes it will be possible to staff and re-open these beds during the present year.
